Profile The B.A History & Economics double main course started in 1967. In 1995 history & economics double main was bifurcated and independent B.A degree course with history main was started. The sanctioned student strength in each batch is 60. Pazhassi Club is functioning under the department.

Facilities A Museum and Archives have been set up to commemorate the warrior king of Malabar Pazhassi Raja. The Museum has a collection of laminated photographs, old palm leaf records antiques arms and ammunitions related to Pazhassi struggle. The archives comprises large number of publications providing detailed information against the British.

Observed the Bicentenary of martyrdom of Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja in a befitting manner. One year long programme was inaugurated by Sri. K.K. Marar an eminent scholar and painter.
Vil – Pattu narrating the Pazhassi struggle was organized.
A talk on “Nature of native resistance against colonialism – a study based on Pazhassi Revolt” by Prof. V.K Gireendran, Syndicate Member, Kannur University.

A talk on economic background of the Pazhassi Revolts by Dr. Joy Varkey.
State level Archery Championship for Tribals was organized.
A Pazhassi Smrithiyathra from Pazhassi to Pulpalli was organized in association with Kerala State Youth Welfare Board, Youth Clubs in and around Mattanur, NCC & NSS.
Dr. K.K.N Kurup delivered the key note address on the valedictory function of observance of bicentenary of Pazhassi Raja.

A talk on “Education in the Neo-Colonial Scenario” by Sri. C.P. Hareendran, Govt. H.S.S, Mahe.
Organised a Pathayathra from the college to Pazhassi Kovilakam to mark the 201st martyrdom of Pazhassi Raja. Prof. Ravivarma Raja of Pazhassi Kovilakam handed over the valuable palm leaf records and several antiques owned by the Kovilakam to the college museum.
