Profile
Hindi department started functioning in the year 1964 with the appointment of Sri. K.S Somanathan Nair as lecturer to teach Hindi as second language- the first posting to this college. In 1967 BA Hindi Main Course started. Sanctioned strength 40.  To promote the curricular and Extra-Curricular activities Hindi Sahitya Samithi is functioning under the department.

Dr. K Sajeev is associating with Kerala Institution of Local Administration(KILA), Trissur as co-ordinator of National training programme of people planning and de-centralised governce.

Celebration of Hindi Pakshacharan for two weeks – Many competitions were held like story telling, Essay writing, recitation etc.

 
  Ten students received scholarships from Central Govt. for promoting Hindi in the Non-Hindi areas.

Hindi Fortnight celebrated in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra and Mini Club Mattanur.

 
 

Conducted a National Seminar on the Study of Linguistics. 62 teachers and 120 students attended the seminar.  Dr. Ravindranath, former, Pro-Vice Chancellor of MG University inaugurated.  Dr. T.K.N Pillai, Director, Central Hindi Institute Agra, Dr. Jayanthi Prasad, Chief manager, Corporation Bank, Mangalore, Sri. Raj N Tiwari, India News Hindi Weekly, Delhi, Dr. Somanathan Nair, UGC-NAAC Committee member and Dr. Antony Fernadas, Principal MG Collge, Mahe were addressed.

 
 

Guruvandhanam Programme was arranged for honoring the former faculties of Hindi department.  20 former teachers  attended.
