Named after the great patriot Sri.Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, the Martyr who stands unique among the rich array of freedom fighters, and founded by the illustrious leader, social reformer and great educationalist Padmabhooshan Sri.Mannathu Padmanabhan, Pazhassi Raja N.S.S. College had its beginning as a junior College in 1964. Now it is one among the several educational institutions of Nair Service Society, a leading organisation which renders its contribution to various service areas with several institutions of higher learning, like Arts and Science Colleges, Training Colleges, Engineering College, Polytechnics, High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, Vocational Higher Secondary Schools, Hospitals and Paramedical institutions.
This College is the fulfillment of the long cherished aspirations of socially and educationally backward people in the eastern side of Kannur district. In the initial periods of its establishment this was the only institution to meet the requirements of higher education of the people in the neighbouring villages.
Sri.M.P.Moidu Haji, the first chairman of the local committee whose service for the establishment of the college are unforgettable, laid the foundation stone of the College on the 19th of April 1964. We have here an extensive campus of over 105 acres, donated by the generous members of the local public.
The inauguration of the Degree Courses was made by the then President of Nair Service Society, Sri.Kalathil Velayudhan Nair on 12th August 1967. Since 1999 Post Graduate course in Commerce (M.Com.) is being offered by the college. Since its beginning we are proud to say that it has been progressively achieving excellence in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. In addition to academic achievements, the college has a unique reputation for sports and games. The college has been making its mark in Volley Ball at University & Inter University level tournaments for several years.
Initially the college was affiliated to Kerala University and after the formation of Calicut University the affiliation was shifted to Calicut University. Since 19th November 1995 the college has been affiliated to Kannur University. |

The Pazhassi Raja N.S.S College was the end result of the combination of local aspirations for acquiring an institute of higher education coupled with the enterpreneurial skills of the Nair Service Society and the visionary zeal of its founder Shri.Mannathu Padmanabhan. The College caters to the educational needs of the people of the eastern fringe of Kannur District (in Kerala, India) which contains tribal, hilly and the backward areas within its social sphere. Hence the mission of the College pertains to the educational, cultural, scientific and commercial development of the region around it. In a broader sphere the College undertakes to play a major role in the advancement of the populace around it by being a beacon of knowledge, wisdom and leadership qualities. |
